Bachelor of Theology (Th. B) runs for 4 years and consists of 124 credit hours.
Diploma in Bible and Theology Program (DBTP) requires 110 credit hours.
The certificate program consists of 40 credit hours.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Below listed are the titles and course descriptions offered by Gospel Garden Bible College for its programs.

Doctrine and Theology (TH)

TH 100 - Bible Doctrine 1 (3 hours)
This course provides a basic biblical study of cardinal bible doctrines including the study of God, the Bible and Christ.
TH 101 - Bible Doctrine 2 (3 hours)
This course provides a biblical study of some of the cardinal doctrines, which have been the tenets of faith in the church of Christ. Here the basic emphasis is on man, sin and salvation.
TH 102 - Bible Doctrine 3 (3 hours)
This course provides a biblical study of cardinal bible doctrines which include angels, demons, the church and the last things.
TH 103 - Holy Sprit (3 hours)
This course provides a biblical study of the person and the work of the Holy Spirit, with an emphasis given to his work in the church today.
TH 104 - Apologetics (3 hours)
This course is a field of Theology which aims to present a rational basis for the Christian faith. Defending the truth of this faith against objections and perceived flows by other world views will be exami
TH 105 - Hermeneutics (3 hours)
The science and art of biblical interpretation is studied in this course, with the goal of ensuring that the student learns to rightly divide the word of truth. Particular focus is given to the historical-grammatical method of interpretation. Hermeneutical trends in the Arfical context, especially the role of culture in biblical interpretation will be explored and evaluated.
TH 106 - Church History (3 hours)
This course is a study of the development of the Christian church from the book of Acts to the present age. The birth of the church at Pentecost to the spread of the church to the uttermost parts of the world will be ciewd. Major changes and movements and their relevance to the present age will be considered.
TH 107 - African Church History (3 hours)
This course introduces the student to the beginning to the Church in Africa, its growth and expansion to the present age. Historical events shaping and determining the growth and development of the church in Africa, and as well the challenges that face the Africal Church and suggestions in dealing with these challenges will be looked at.

OLD TESTANMENT (OT)

OT 300 - Old Testament Survey (3 hours)
this is a survey of the Old Testament canon, viewing it from abird's eye view. The events, people and major themes of the Old Testament will be looked at in detail.
Emphasis will be put on implicatioins for life today.
OT 301 - Pentateuch (3 hours)
This course is a thorough study of the Books of Moses. Major themes such as God's revelation of Himself through his dealings with the patrialrchs, the revelation of the law, his redemption of the Israelites from Egypt, the bulding of the tabernacle and setting up of Levitical Priesthood and their implications for us today will be studied.
OT 302 - Historcal Books (3 hours)
This course introduces the student to the history of the nation of Israel after the death of Moses, the events related to the establishment of the Nation of Israel, the division of th kingdom, to the time of captivity and beyound. Themes applicatble to our life today are given prominence.
OT 303 - Major Prophets (3 hours)
This course discusses the lives, times and dministries of the Old Testament major writing prophets. Themes and messages delivered by the major prophets, and their relevance to the church today will be given emphasis.
OT 304 - Minor Prophets (3 hours)
This course discusses the lives and ministries of the minor prophets. the themes and messages delivered by the prophets to Israel and beyound, and their relevance to the church of Jesus Chist today will looked at.

NEW TESTANENT (NT)

NT 201 - New testament Survey (3 hours)
This course is a systematic presentation of the major teachings of the New Testament. It outlines the principal doctrines of scripture and provides a basic introduction for subsequent in-depth studies of specific doctrines. Emphasis will be placed on how each book and group of books contributes to the working out of the plan of redemption.
NT 202 - The Life of Christ (2 hours)
This course is a study of the gospels, singling out the life and times of Christ. His birth, life, theachings, his death and resurrection are looked at in details. Life changing lessons from is life and teachings will be emphasized.
NT 203 - Pauline Epistles (2 hours)
This is a detailed study of Paul's letters. The prophetic epistles, salvation epistles, prison epistles and Pastoral Epistles will all be looked at. Emphasis will be put on the lessons for today.
NT 204 - General Epistles (2 hours)
This course investigates the books of Hebrews, James, 1 and 2 Peter, 1,2 and 3 John and Jude. Their background, content, doctrinal themesand general teachings for practical Christian living will be emphasized.
NT 205 - Pastoral Epistles (2 hours)
The three epistles, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy and Titus are looked at in this course.
Pastoral advice and teachings given by Paul to the young pastor will be given special emphasis, and lessons learned from the course will be applied in the student's life and ministry.

BIBLE STUDIES (BS)

BS 400 - The Gospel of John (2 hours)
An analytical and expository study emphasizing the miracles and discourses of Christ and John's portrayal of His deity.
BS 401 - Romans and Galatians (3 hours)
This course is a study of two inportant Pauline letters with the themes of salbation by faith. Doctrianl teachings on justification, sanctification and gloryfication will by given special attention.
BS 402 - I & II Corinthians (2 hours)
The Content of 1 and 2 Corinthians are studied. The problems addressed by Paul in these two letters and their relevance to the church today will ba discussed at length.
BS 403 - Synoptic Gospels (2 hours)
This course introduces the student to the harmony of the gospels, with attention given to key passages and key themes in thesegospels. The biblical materialwill continually be applied in the church today.
BS 404 - Book of Hebrews (2 hours)
A survey of th NT book Hebrews; looking at its authorship, content and theological teachings. Its relationship with the Old Testament teachings will be examined, and the difficult passages will be interpreted.
BS 405 - New Testament Bible Reading (2 hours)
This course will help students to build their faith on the word of God not feelings.
Salvation does not fluctuate as do feelings. Feelings changes, and christian's feelings may continue to fluctuate for a time. But the Word of God never changes and eventually the Word of God will govern the feelings.
BS 406 - Old Testament Bible Reading (2 hours)

CHURCH NINISTRY (CM)

CM 500 - Homiletics (3 hours)
This course presents the basic method of preparing and presenting biblical sermons.
The student will concentrate on preparing, deliverfing and evaluating sermons in the classroom setting. This will help develop and sharpen his personal preaching style and skills.
CM 501 - Children's Ministry (2 hours)
This course introduces the student to the paradigms of ministering to childern. Topics covered include: the needs of children, the importance of ministry to childeren, training of their teachers and building their Bible Knowledge and thus developing their cognitive skills and leading them to Christ.
CM 502 - Youth Ministry (2 hours)
This is a ninisterial course geared to helping meet the spiritual needs of the young person, and helping him prow into a responsible citizen. Issues relating to tyoung people and effective ways of ministering to them will be given emphasis.
CM 503 - Church Leadership and administration (2 hours)
This course introduces the student the nature, structure and functions of the local church; and on how to lead a local congreagation. It will also furnish the student with the skills (both interpersonal and organizational) to help him understand administrative issues relating to the church. The student will learn to use and organize available resources so as to manage the ministry, its finances and evaluate its growth.
CM 504 - Christian Marriage and Family life (2 hours)
This course gives an overview of Christian marriage, its joys, pains and challenges.
The biblical teaching and design on matters pertaining marriage is emphasized. Issues such as parentin, sex, finances, communication, divorce and remarriage etc. will be covered. The African perspective on these issues will be looked at, and if need be, challenged by sciptural teaching.
CM 505 - G.G.C.K Constitution (2 hours)
The course introduces the student to the teachings and basic doctrines of Gospel Garden churches of Kenya as a denomination. Learning of this course will help students of other denominations formulate their own constitutional documents, and develop principles that will guard against heretical teachings.
CM 506 - Evangelism and Discipleship (2 hours)
This course is an introduction to the art of winning souls for Christ, follow-up and as well making disciples of the won souls.
Emphasis is put on practical ministry, which each student in Gospel Garden Bible College must be involved in from first year to final year.
CM 507 - Pastoral Counselling (2 hours)
This course introduces the student to pastoral counselling, majoring on biblically based directive counselling on specific problems.
Ii will also introduce the student to basic counselling skills which can help a disturbed person acquire attitudinal health and progress to maturity.
Biblical counselling, as compared and contrasted to secular counselling will be looked at; and skills that can be borrowed by a Christian counsellor evaluated and if need by, adopted.
CM 508 - Leadership Development (2 hours)
This course explores the intrigues of leadership, management, stewardship and other related topics, geared to help the student learn personal and organizational management skills.  Special attention is given to the challenges that leaders face in the African context.
CM 509 – Power Encounter (3 hours)
This course introduces the student to the realization of divine empowerment and anointing for ministry. It concentrates on three areas; healing, teaching and proclaiming.  It will help the student learn how to attack syncretism in the African church.
CM 510 – Church planting (2 hours)
This course introduces the student to issues in relation to planting new congregations. Issues of feasibility, homogeneity of the society, social strata etc. which help achieve the practicality of Church planting will be looked at.  Methods of planting, growing and establishing indigenous churches will be viewed. Emphasis will be put on paradigms in African context today.
CM 511 – Small Groups in Christian Ministry (2 hours)
This course introduces the student to the skills of effectively leading Bible study and small prayer groups to enhance growth and spiritual development in the church.
CM 512 – Church Growth (2 hours)
This course gives a survey of the basic principles of Church Growth (numerical and spiritual; hence financial) with the emphasis of applying these principles in a local church setting. 
CM 513 – Church Music (2 hours)
This course looks at the role and function of music in worship and communication of the gospel. Emphasis will be put on use of music as an effective tool for the gospel across cultures.
CM 514 - Practical Ministry (1 hours)
This course, which is mandatory throughout a student’s life at GGBC, involves practical work / ministry in the church setting. All students will be involved in Evangelism and discipleship, pastoral visitation, leading praise and worship, preaching, Sunday school and Youth ministry etc. under the supervision of a local church pastor and the school Chaplain. 

PRACTICAL MINISTRY (PM)

PM 600 – Spiritual Formation 1 (2 hours)
This is a course that is aimed at developing the spiritual discipline of prayer and dependence on God the Holy Spirit for the minister of the gospel.
PM 601 – Spiritual Formation 2 (2 hours)
This course explores the call to the ministry, spiritual and physical qualifications for the ministry, developing and maintaining spirituality in the ministry, and the prayer life of the mature Christian.
PM 602 – Spiritual warfare (2 hours)
A survey of biblical principles involved in spiritual warfare and of current trends in the field. Emphasis is given to developing a biblical model for doing spiritual warfare.
PM 603 – Pastoral Ethics (2hours)
This course presents to the student pastoral etiquette presenting the pastor as a person of discipline, devotion and dedication.   Spiritual disciplines and spiritual injunctions that have helped pastors over the years will be looked into. The pastor’s personal life, family, time management and personal study will be discussed.
PM 604 – Pastoral Ministry (2 hours)
This course looks at the functions related to pastoral care. It is designed to help equip the student to be able to effectively carry out pastoral duties such as baptism, communion, weddings, funerals, etc. and as well carry out pastoral functions such as visitation, counselling, preaching and teaching.

MISSION (MS)

MS 700 – Theology of Missions (3 hours)
A study of the theology and philosophy of the Christian world mission with an emphasis on the biblical basis of missions, the doctrinal foundations of missions, the issues that are impacting missions today. A study of critical issues in missions, including crucial issues in missiology and cutting-edge developments and trends in the global missionary endeavor.
MS 701 – Introduction to Muslim Ministry (2 hours)
A study of Islam, giving attention to the history, development, doctrines, and practices of the Islamic faith. Emphasis is given to strategies for evangelizing Muslims.
MS 702 – African Traditional Religions (2 hours)
A study of the indigenous religious traditions of Africa. Emphasis is given to strategies for evangelizing followers of these traditions. Animism and African Folk Islam are emphasized. The challenge of syncretism in today’s church will be given extra emphasis.
MS 703 – World Religions (2 hours)
World religions course is a survey of the world’s major religions, their beliefs, practices and world views.  The purpose of this course is to foster understanding of major non-Christian faiths, so as to be informed as we approach them to lead them to Christ.
MS 704 – Paul’s Missionary Work (2 hours)
A survey of Paul’s missionary work, with special consideration on the three missionary journeys. Concept and modes of mission work as well as contextualization will be given emphasis.
MS 705 – Black Presence in the Bible (2 hours)
This course gives an overview of black persons in the Bible, showing that black persons were part of the community of faith in both Old and New Testaments, and played an important role in God’s plan and work of salvation to the world. The motivation of the study is to correct the racist attitude which white Christians have often manifested towards their fellow black Christians, and as well motivate the black Christian to see himself as part of God’s plan and design.

GENERAL EDUCATION (GE)

GE 800 – Greek I (2 hours)
This is a course on the basic elements of grammar in the Greek New Testament.  Verbs, nouns, pronouns and adjective forms will be presented. Sentence structure and translation from Greek to English will be given special emphasis.
GE 801 – English Grammar and Composition (2 hours)
This course offers a review of English Grammar, syntax and sentence construction.  Writing, as we use the term in this course is more than an encoding of speech sounds; it will be an act of literacy.  Composition will be given prominent emphasis.
GE 802 – Research Methods and Academic Writing (2 hours)
This is an introduction to methodologies of doing research and writing quality academic papers. The use of library resources and the art of integrating, critiquing and evaluating as well as adopting or rejecting different points of view will be emphasized.
GE 803 – Principles of Teaching (2 hours)
This course is an overview of teaching methods and practices that have proved effective in inseminating and retention knowledge to students.  Special attention will be given to the preparation and presentation of a lesson in class, use of available and relevant instructional materials as well as use of today’s technology to enhance learning.
GE 804 – Communication (2 hours)
This course surveys the art of oration and seeks to help students to become better communicators to their audiences by equipping them with knowledge and skills which will enable them to receive and as well pass information to others.  An emphasis is put on public speaking including speech preparation and delivery.
GE 805 – Introduction to Christian Education (2 hours)
This course introduces the student to educational issues relating to the church.  It covers topics such as human development, spiritual development, teaching, learning using formal and informal means to enhance church growth and Christian maturity.
GE 806 – Introduction to Computer  (2 hours)
This course empowers the student with the basic computer skills to enhance both computer literacy and academic writing.  Different computer skills, and especially power point presentation will be given emphasis.
GE 807 – Intermediate Computer (2 hours)
This course introduces the student to advanced computer skills and knowledge.  Its prerequisite is GE811 introduction to computer.
GE 808 – Introduction to Psychology (2 hours)
This course introduces the student to basic study of the human soul including personality traits, why people behave the way they behave, mental, and intellectual capabilities and other basic related topics.
GE 809 – Introduction to Sociology (2 hours)
This course introduces the student to sociological issues such as socialization, social strata, the society, the basic social institutions and their perceived role in the society.
